McLean Engineering Welcomes Walter West and Chau Nguyen, Announces New Analytical Solutions Team
McLean Engineering is pleased to announce that Walter West and Chau Nguyen will be joining the firm’s Atlanta office effective August 15. Together, West and Nguyen bring more than 27 years of experience providing analytical solutions for municipal utilities to McLean to supplement the firm’s existing design, engineering, inspection, and energy service offerings to community utilities.

We believe their extensive experience will further strengthen our long-standing partnership with Electric Cities of Georgia (ECG) and will help us grow our services in other markets as well,” said Michael McLean, PE, President of McLean Engineering.
West and Nguyen will focus on developing analytical solutions to complement McLean Engineering’s history of power engineering expertise. West’s and Nguyen’s services will be available to ECG Participants through McLean Engineering’s teaming agreement with ECG.
West will take on the role of Vice President for Analytical Solutions, where he will focus on helping community utilities increase their revenue to strengthen their organizations and communities. West has almost 19 years of experience developing solutions in the public power industry, having served most recently as the Executive Vice President of Electric Cities of Georgia. In this role, West developed strategic and fiduciary plans for ECG while overseeing Legislative & Regulatory Service, Pricing & Sales Support, Major & National Accounts, and Communications.
With measurable success from an extensive background in mechanical engineering and marketing, West participated in the effort to create the ECG that exists today. Since the development of ECG as a not-for-profit service organization, West has developed several new services and business opportunities that have made ECG a healthier organization with greater opportunity for revenue that have been to the ultimate benefit of ECG Participants. The Legislative & Regulatory Service, Pole Attachment Service, and Internal/External Communications were all instituted under West’s management.
Nguyen will serve as the Director of Analytical Solutions, where he will focus on helping community utilities solve their revenue and business analysis challenges. Previously, Nguyen was the Director of Business Analysis at the Marietta Board of Lights and Water — a municipal utility system with annual revenues in excess of $140 million. He came to Marietta BLW from an eight-year tenure at ECG, where he developed extensive experience in pricing, benchmarking and resource planning. He is also a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and Certified Demand-Side Management (CDSM) professional.
