Sumter EMC Selects McLean Engineering for Pole Attachment Inventory and Attacher Management Program

Sumter Electric Membership Corporation (EMC), based in Americus, Ga., recently selected McLean Engineering Company to provide an inventory of and manage its pole attachments.

As part of its joint use attachment agreements, Sumter EMC is due to conduct a pole attachment count and joint use inventory on its system. Sumter selected McLean Engineering to provide this count in an effort to improve communications with its attachers and clean up late transfers. McLean is also helping Sumter manage the NJUNS process, including notifications, transfers, and engineering as necessary.

McLean’s Attacher Management Program (AMP) oversees a utility's contracts and day-to-day implementation of all obligations for pole attachment and joint use agreements, with the potential to improve relationships with its attachers as well as save the utility money lost due to an inefficient attachment process.  Sumter EMC and McLean will collaborate via McLean Engineering’s MapLayers hosted GIS platform.
