South Kentucky RECC Selects McLean Engineering for Pole Attachment Services
South Kentucky Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation (RECC), based in Somerset, Ky., recently selected McLean Engineering Company to provide pole attachment permitting support in response to the demand for fiber/high-speed internet in rural areas of its service territory.
As communication companies submit permit requests to South Kentucky RECC for the purpose of attaching equipment to the utility-owned poles, McLean will manage permits from beginning to completion, including costing, make-ready, and inspection, to ensure the Cooperative meets required timelines and recovers costs.
McLean works with many municipalities, cooperatives and state trade organizations to navigate through joint-use concerns by providing expertise in all areas related to joint-use and pole attachment matters.

About South Kentucky RECC
On October 8, 1938, a group of 10 farmers from Wayne and surrounding counties met at the County Agent's office in Monticello, Kentucky. The purpose of the meeting was to officially begin a rural electric cooperative in the area. Articles of Incorporation had already been executed and filed in Frankfort creating South Kentucky Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation, and at this first meeting, by-laws were adopted, seven directors were elected, and the membership fee was set at $5.00. On January 23, 1940, the cooperative celebrated the energizing of its lines and the beginning of its system operation. South Kentucky RECC’s mission is to reliably provide electricity and related services to its members at a competitive price, and to improve the quality of life in their communities. The Cooperative currently serves over 70,000 meters. To learn more, visit skrecc.com.
